ASSOCIATE PROFILE – RICHARD J. JACK (Male)
I am a qualified social worker with 37 years of post qualification experience. My HCPC registration number is SW27623.
I hold an M.A in Psychology and Social Economics, a Diploma in Applied Social Work Studies, a C.Q.S.W. and a Certificate in Local Government Management.
Whilst I have always focussed my practice on child and family matters, from 1975 until 1987, this was in the context of practitioner, middle and senior manager for Local Authorities in Scotland and England managing a range of services. Since 1987 I have worked as an independent practitioner providing expert opinion to the Courts and as a trainer to Local Authorities and Voluntary Agencies. Until 2002, I also worked as a Children’s Guardian.
My specialist areas of work are risk assessments of families including those where violence and substance misuse are present; fostering asessments, direct work with children; investigations into historical complaints of poor practice; investigations into abusive regimes.
I am an approved Family Group Conference Co-ordinator. I have prepared many expert witness reports for all levels of Courts within the United Kingdom and for the European Court of Human Rights. I have regularly attended courses as part of my continuing professional development including Brief Therapy, Human Rights and training in the administration of a number of psychometric tests to assess the risk of violence or to assess parent and child interaction.
My ethnic background is white Scottish. I am one of the two founder Directors who established ISWA in 1998. -

ASSOCIATE PROFILE – PHILIP KING (Male)
I am a qualified social worker with 32 years of post qualification experience. My HCPC registration number is SW27749.
I hold the Advanced Award in Social Work which provides evidence of practice at Masters level.
I have always specialised in work with children and families. My initial experience lies in local authority social work and management. I have operated as a freelance social worker since 1984 providing independent opinion and training services to many professionals. This initially included work as a Children’s Guardian.
My specialist areas of work are risk assessments of families including those where violence, drug misuse and/or learning disability are present; assessing attachment, undertaking fostering assessments. I am an approved convenor for Family Group Conferences. I have a number of published works related to work with children and families.
I have prepared many expert witness reports for all levels of Courts within the United Kingdom. I have regularly attended courses as part of my continuing professional development including training in administering certain psychometric tests such as assessing risk of violence and assessing various characteristics of child and parent interaction.
My ethnic background is white Irish. I have operated as a freelance social worker for 22 years and I am one of the two founder Directors of ISWA.
